Gutsy Cool Gal reaps blessings in Ulu Limbang

This is a write up on  how a young Christian Chinese (W. Malaysian) teacher came to meet Penan students for the first time in her life and left her heart in the ulu. She actually has more stories to tell after living with them for more than five days!

A great team of Christian teachers and health workers from Miri helping the Penan students in Ulu Limbang in a holiday enrichment programme.

All3 is a Special Education Teacher of a Miri secondary school students who are special and are attending normal classes like ordinary kids.

It has not been easy for her! But because she has her heart for them she is discovering JOY of WORKING with them.

Recently she took another challenge to work amongst the Penan children for a few days. It was easy and very rewarding for her. I will use her photos to tell her story!!

A happy soul - on her way to Ulu Limbang!! She is an inspiration to many.

Getting to the place is hard!! This is only part of the journey because the team has to walk three more hours to get to the settlement.

This is one of the stories : Drama lessons for the special Penan Holiday Enrichment Programme. After a few days the children are able to perform - using perfect Bahasa Malaysia.

Here is another inspiring story : teaching them to sing!! All3 is a good musician too. Enthusiastic children singing Christmas carols and enjoying the Santa Claus caps. They are very melodious - like the Von Trapp Singers . According to All3 teaching them to sing is very rewarding.

What other blessings did she receive?

The story of Excellent food - plucked from the jungle - shot in the jungle - hooked from the river - pulled from the ground......it was so generous of God to provide. Their cup runneth over. Even though they had brought more than adequate food supplies for all to share the environment provided all the organic food for them to enjoy.

Here is another story : the Penan man was given five cartridges  by Pastor to go hunt an animal for the guest teachers or visitors. He was told to be very frugal with the cartridges. He came back after just perhaps one hour with a huge wild boar on his back....all 130 kg. of it! God was provident. He had used only one cartridge!!

When he came back every one stopped mid air what ever they were working at and  rushed to photograph him with the booty on his back. See how strong he is!

There are 1001 things you can do for the Penans. Take your first step! Here's the young Penan Tarzan boy- Adam - waiting for you and your love.

yes indeed....so miracles here:
one bullet got the wild boar.
One Penan went alone to hunt.
One Pastor blessed him for his journey to hunt for the visitors.
God was watching over all of them.
Ny friend was there to take this photo....one shot also
Every other person having a digital camera also got a shot of the amazing wildboar on the back of the Penan.
The wildboar was very well tied to the rattan basket by those thin ropes. Could have made a mountaineer jealous!!
I am still amazed!! Wow!!)P/s/ I am just so touched that All3 gives me the honour of using her photos to show to my readers.
Thanks Daniel.

Hi...thanks for writing. Do start your blog when you have the time. But with your travelling plans may be not so easy.
Yes Amazing Ulu but have to be away from the plantations. All too soon there will be no more ULU.

As I have told Justin...this amazing sight may be a disappearing scenario ...with plantations closing in from all directions longhouses and kampongs may no longer have such a good hunting ground. Got cartridge no animal is what many have been saying. Each cartridge is now 12 ringgit and not just any one can buy.

Fufu...if you do want to join a hunting trip you need to link up with friends in BArio and go to the Kelabit highlands...during the fruit season. I hope by the time you come the animals will still be crosing the Indonesian borders looking for Sarawakian fruits.

this is the law of the jungle....and I respect it for the good of our future generation. Conserve and preserve...respect the habitat and the animal kingdom. Don't destry the plant life.

I want to go hunting too, just for the excitement. I find game meat too tough for me. Though yesterday, I went to Laser skirmish with the kids. I hid behind a pillar, and before I could shoot, I was shotdead. So I doubt if any hunter will want to take me. LOl

Hi Ann
That's a nice game. Hunting is tough especially when you wish to go to a comfortable toilet!!

Can't do it any where in the jungle loh! But if it is hunting just say for four hours it will be ok for me...

A friend of mine Caleena Pasang (I think Wayne knows her) is Queen of the Jungle. She drives and her hubby shoots...good eh?
