Mosjaya Satay on Labour Day

On May lst 2009 my friend and I (both retirees) decided to have afternoon tea in Mosjaya. Not all countries in the world celebrate Labour Day and not all the countires which celebrate labour Day celebrate it on May lst.

I asked the Satay Man to allow me to take his photos as I found his act was a little interesting. He really enjoyed his work . But most important of all he was really ambidextrous (ability to use both hands well). His left hand was deftly fanning the charcoal. And his right hand was turning the satay. (A little burnt on the outside though) The burning is usually caused by too much sugar in the marinating I presume.

Too shy to give us his name he just quietly did his work - pangang the satay for us - at 50 sen each. We orded 10 ringgit worth of satay. But as it was quite late in the evening there wasn't any ketupat (rice) left.

He has a very pleasant personality and in spite of the high heat of the charcoal stove he was cheerful and entertaining.

He was assisted by two other servers.

In my life experience most Satay Men are very pleasant in nature and they serve with a smile.

I wish I can provide the song " The Satay Man" on this posting. Can any one help?

I know this cheerful young man. His satay is a little too sweet for my liking. But the chendol in this shop is nice. If only their ice shavings are more snowy...
Too crowded sometimes only and no parking of course. Sigh. Sigh.

This guy really looks good in your photo. Nice smile...just like an attractive satay man and we buy nice satay from him. We usually tah pau there and then eat at home. We find the drinks too sweet..We will make our own rojak and bamboo shoots sambal. We may be rajin - we make our own ketupat...depends on who come. Satay is always good for everyone!!

Anon (l) Thanks for dropping by. Yes a Satay meal (with all the sambal and mango salad etc) would really be nice. Wow you can make your own ketupat!! Wonders!
