Tree of Hearts

When we were young we loved collecting "Siang Shu Dou" from under the trees in the Methodist Secondary School. But I have discovered a new tree which gives red heart shaped seeds. From a distance the tree is dotted by red spots. But coming nearer you can see little hearts dangling from the twigs.

Have a look at this tree in my photos. Aren't the seeds beautiful?

God has created lovely trees and birds for us to look at. And may our discerning heart be filled with joy!

In moments of loneliness there is a whole tree with lots of hearts for you!

Surround yourself with the beauty of this tree with little hearts.

I used to pick these at my secondary school and kept it in a bottle. Remind me of the old days.

How could I forget this poem?

相思

  红豆生南国,春来发几枝;
  愿君多采撷,此物最相思。

Thanks, CY, for bringing back some young carefree days memories!

Hi Yan
Do you get to see these trees in KK? The seeds are in season now. The flowers are very tiny yellow ones.
I like to see the trees in a distance because the bring spots of redness to the jungle green.
The poem is lovely. Chinese couplets of ten words per line are always so thoughtful and full of insight. It is not easy to contain a sublime idea within just twenty words.....

Thanks....

Hi Ah Ngao
I am not sure where such a tree can be found in Kuching. I hope Greenspot will give us some pointers.
Thanks for visiting.

Hi Wenn
I used to tell my friends that if they look hard enough they can find beautiful hearts...(literally and metaphorically...)
Have a lovely day.
Cheers.

This new tree, is it genetically modified? Did you husband and children give you lots? I must ask my younger sis who works in an University in Kuching.

Are they hardc like the saga seeds?

You must have picked all the saga seeds because by the time I came to school, I did not hear of such a tree. I was delighted at Sentosa Island, we picked a lot of them/

At Changi Terminal tree ( Hey, they even name an airport after you LOL), they have a giant man made saga seed.

I think it is a species of the saga. There are many of them in the Limbang and Baram River valleys. Brunei has lots of them.

My photos were taken in the Brunei Lake Reservoir Park. It is a good place to have long walks.

No I am sure the saga trees are still in the school but they are very much older....around the tennis courts.

this tree makes some parts of our jungle canopy red in October. So I take delight in it.

Thanks for dropping by. Have a good day!
