Two Sunset Scenes in Miri

Driving down Brighton Road (Miri)  in the dusk is always such a rewarding pleasure. On one hand I often feel that a good day's work has been done and on the other hand I feel that home is getting nearer. There is no quite such a place as home. Then as I bathe in the  the beauteous handiwork of God varying thoughts fleet through my mind. How I savour the beautiful scene: I feel that being there with the setting sun and having to go home is like changing partners in a dance. You allow yourself to let go of your first partner a little unwillingly giving him a little thank you squeeze in the hand but then you welcome your second partner with grace and a Miss World smile.

With such a glorious sunset in front I would especially wind down the window to feel the still warm sun giving out its last energy to mankind. And then slowly slowly the sun would sink down as I pass by the so familiar palm trees which I have seen growing from young saplings many years ago. These are but just three or four minutes of driving.

As the skies slowly darken my heart  goes on quick step or may be even a tango. Time to hurry home. No time to delay. Can't wait for the grand finale of the magnificent equatorial sunset.

There is yet dinner to be cooked!

But it is good to linger on just for a little while and see the sun go down and the skies change a little of its redness to a little violet and then a little more grey...the colours change as no artist's palette can replicate.

Our heavenly kaleidoscope is once again telling me how wonderful a world God has created for us. There will be more glorious sunsets.

Do not fret but go into the night with hope.

Beautiful shots. You must be waiting at the traffic light in front of the church.

Hi Ah Ngao
Thanks for visiting. Beautiful isn't it? Neaven leave home without your digital camera. I am a nature buff and as a pension I can enjoy both a micro as well as a macro world.

These two shots were accidental. I was running late but what I saw in front was gorgeous! And it was getting almost too dark. But my faithful Sony Cybershot helped me.

Dear William
Thank you for your kind words. No I slowed down and took the first photo near the Marine Complex. And then the second photo I really had to stop under the bamboo grove (RTM hill). The cars were passing by - rushing home at about 6:15 I remember. I panicked a little but my camera was simple enough for the shots. When I reached home I had these two good ones. Actually I wanted to do the ambitious - every two minute one photo from the same position.
There will always be the next time with a better camera perhaps.

For me this is one of the most beautiful places for sunset scenes (besides the Tanjong Lobang) because you can compose the palms in front and the sun setting behind the Brighton Condominium. And then there is this beautiful and romantic curve of the road...

For me it is difficult to transfer exquisite nature's art into photographic images because of positioning and timing. Camera too...wish I have a better camera. These colours are not photoshopped.

Please teach me how to improve.

Thanks.

Thanks for your comments.
How is your new job getting along?

I have also been thinking of how to photograph the egrets flying in formation above me ....every evening they fly past my house here...beautiful homeward going birds....

Yes you are so far away in Germany...Miri is waiting for you.

the sun is always beautiful in miri..... especially when it isn't so cloudy. you don't need a fancy camera or photoshop to improve your images. a true photographer does not depend on tools for good results. the best indicator of a good photographer is the ability to place what is seen with the eye into a little frame. afterall, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I was once staying in Brighton Road, somewhere next to Taman selera. I really miss the beach sunset. I still kept some photo of the sunset. At that time Brighton condominium haven't exist yet. Even the road is still single lane. I saw in your photo the road is dual lane.

Dear Anonymous
Thanks for your compliments. I will keep your kind words in mind.

Yes beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Dear Jay
We might have been neighbours!! I am down at Luak Bay.
Yes the Brighton Road is now dual lane with the lovely palm trees in between (they always get knocked down by speeding cars). It is still one of the best roads in Miri!

if possible don't photoshoppe your pics, let them be original.adultered pics are a plenty in flickR - no doubt looks very nice for some but i still prefer Original.

Hi Ah Ngao

Thanks for the pics.

I too like original pictures....but some photoshopped photos are fantastically imaginative...

Dear S
It is nice to read your feelings about sunsets.

Each sunset for my father is another day gone and he would sigh. He probably misses his old friends. But he is not talking.

My grandmother is still alive.

I like the earlier part of sunset but then not good time to take photos also.

Thanks for visiting. Nature (sunsets and sunrises especially) can evoke great deep feelings from mankind. Look around and even the birds are moved!

I am always reluctant to leave my sunset scenes...always wait if possible for the final sinking of the sun into the horizon.

Hope your dad can find his happiness.

Thanks for visiting. Welcome.

Thanks for the compliments too. Miri has wonderful sunsets and the beach is very long. So you can take many different kinds of sunset scenes.
