Chinese New Year 3 -Something new something old.....

Niki is in town to help celebrate Chinese New Year. He can draw a portrait for you. In ancient days the Chinese would always have a family portrait painted during Chinese New Year. It would be best if there were five generations under one roof. And what a wonderful family portrait that would be.

In my maternal grandfather's house in Sg. Maaw there was a portrait of the Lau ancestors - all seven generations of men from the ancient days. They must have been the first seven generations of the Lau Clan. I wonder if this portrait can still be found in Sarawak. According to my Uncle Pang Sing every Lau family in the past had this portrait in the living room.

I remember my late father would always gather us together to take nice photos with grand father when we visited him at the large house. I think it is a very good practice to have family portraits taken during CNY because that is the only time when almost every one is together at home.

Wish Niki a lot of prosperity too and may more people come together for family photos.

Niki wanted to draw my portrait for me. But I told him I would come back when I look younger and prettier.....he caught the humour. I kept my money.

Lovely lekor - but as instructed by my cardiologist I must never eat fried food!  And obediently I have not eaten lekor or KFC for five years now. Strict diet. I also do not eat deep fried food because I have very bad bouts of tonsilitis. And these lekor look so attrrrrrrractive....

Sunglasses gazing at you..."buy me..buy me.." I thought it would be nice to look like Elvis Presley during CNY....

Chinese Muslim ladies can have new tudong......

My old favourite : Sugar cane water.....since KL days a long long time ago....

Wow...Keladi Drink!! And Serai Susu....these are new!!

Children ....enjoy these pictures .....
