Keladi Tikus - News from Indonesia

(Photo: from Google)
This is keladi tikus - perhaps a common house plant in your area.
It has been studied in Indonesia and has been manufactured as a good  antitode for cancer and other related sicknesses! Kudus to Indonesian botanists and researchers for the steps they have taken.....

Hi Ah Ngao
I have not read about this in Sarawak....we have been reading about vanilla and jatropha....all these have made many of the seed suppliers very rich. And now licenses are being given out to birds' nests in houses.

Hi Uncle Lee

Do let me know if you can actually get such a plant in Toronto....

My friend bought a Bemban (water rushes ) in KL thinking that it is superb house plant for almost 200 per pot....I told her in my grandmother's Rejang river bank there are acres and acres of these rushes....I could be a rich woman....but then what is gold in KL florists hands may just be every day weeds in mine....sigh....

future blog on bemban...

Have a great weekend and chap goh mei....a really big moon to you. And hold hands with your lovely wife.

I was researching on keladi pinang (bee long wo) the type for making Foochow keladi kuih (wo kui) which I love...I lost the recipe and tried making it without one...turned out too soft..

I realise that yam is taro in Google and accidentally found Keladi Tikus. I am sure I have seen lots of keladi tikus in Miri....so will go and take some more crazy photos... I am wishing on my moon I will get a Canon camera with macro functions....and then become a member of the Miri Photographic club....Pray that my wishes mahy come true.

Yeah I wonder how to send the plants to the pharmaceutical company in West Malaysia...Pl. ask you sis if this plant can be used in homecooking....

Hi CY,

Does this plant look like your keladi tikus?

When I was in NTU in Singapore, we bordered a jungle. I went to the jungle and found this plant. I planted it and after a few years, by chance it had flowered. A dark blood red flower.

I think in Nature books, they call it an Indian Kale.

I got quite a few plants from the mother plant and gave them to my Indian friends.

Haven't heard from Marg yet.

regarding that cancer cure herb, you must send your spies to Sibu. Very secretive. LOL

I read, you wrote a little about birds' nest in houses. You got lots of info?

I LOL about Gold in KL, rubbish weeds in Sibu.

Dear Ann
May be it is the same as Indian Kale...

Yesterday in the Sunday Borneo Post...a large article on birds nests from house produced nests...how to get swiftlets to nest....a friend went to attend a course in order to get a licence. But haven't asked her about the course materials....they are hoping to earn lots of money...money from birds' saliva....that's what many say...

Will keep my fingers crossed about the rubbish weeds which turn to gold then...alchemy...????

Since Malaysia has allowed herbal medicine without having to go thru the tough clinical test but based on traditional knowledge, a no of herbal plants have been manufactured for antidote of all kinds.

I repost here as this is where it belongs.

Hi CY,

Would love to know more about the swifts' nest. I was told Sarikei has become the smelly town, and with all the unhealthy unclean drainage, the foot mouth disease could be the result.

This is why I don't want to do a post myself, because I will be very negative. My friends from West Malaysia also tell me about it.

Dear Ann
Yes this is true. Many have made quick money out of plants (tongkat ali for example) without stringet tests.; According to a very learned man TA is at best good for headaches. In his younger days no one ever took TA in his village as far as he knew to enhance male prowess. But men today do magnify their masculinity ...

Hence lots of new products..But some old products like Sing Kung Chui and Cap Kapak are really good.

Hi Ann

Will do one on Birds' nest...

In Miri a few of the shop houses were full of these birds and only very recently the birds have been chased away and the Municipal Council has warned the operators...Heard that they are making a lot of money out of the noisy birds.

The smell was unbearable to the neighbours.

Soh Mien on First Day of Lunar New Year

Today 10.2.2024 is the first day of the New Lunar Year of the Dragon. Yes I have cooked the chicken and made the soh mien. Happy New Year!!...
