Datuk Kung or Malaysian God of Wealth

Many Malaysians worship the God of Wealth who is dressed up in different costumes. I took a photo of this God of Wealth some where in Malaysia...and he is even called Datuk Kung - or Grandfather Datuk.

And all dressed in Baju Melayu.....I could not believe my eyes...he really looks like some one we know....I suppose this is making worshipping of the God Wealth a very 1Malaysia custom too.

Cheers to the Sibu by-election tomorrow....

Dear Ah Ngao
I heard this explanation " Chinese worshipped Tu Di Kung in China. Tu Di means the local man. So when some moved to the South seas they had to pay respect to the local spirit. In Malaysia it is the Datuk...hence there are lots of them here. I heard that there is on in Sibu who gives good four digit numbers and many timber workers in ulu also worship Datuk K. They prosper..."

You believe in what you believe...
