Pingnan Methodist Church

There are not many Foochows in Sibu whose forefathers came from Pingnan. However there is a small Pingnan Association in Sibu.

But if you went to school in the 1960's-70's you would have met Madam Tiong Ping King or Mrs. (Dr.) Tiang. She was born in Pingnan(Fujian) and went to study in TAiwan where she graduated with a law degree. After marrying Dr. Tiang she came to Sibu and became a Chinese Literature teacher at Methodist Secondary School.

This post and some other posts on Pingnan are dedicated to Madam Tiong or Ping King Jia who reached out to many people including my Grand Aunt Yuk Ging. Ping King Jia is now retired and residing in Canada.

In this church we met her relatives and especially her brother.

What a lovely connection.

The Pingnan Methodist Church in Fujian welcomed Wong Meng Lei and our group not only like long lost cousins but VIPS.

This is the way the Pingnan church members welcome Wong Meng Lei and the whole group....Foochow fire crackers!! It was raining very heavily when we arrived. But the welcome was extremely warm and heartfelt.

The church is simple and yet "rich" .

Surprising and interesting coincidence : the Praise Dance Troupe and its founder from Taiwan are here at the same time. The unmistakeble uniform. at 70+ she is lithe and sprightly like a 40+ lady - praising and dancing every day.

Immediately the church's LCD computer technician is at work to welcome Wong Meng Lei and the rest of us....

By the way, the two lights under the cross are the Jewish lights/lamps. It is Judaism and not Christianity. I saw Meng Lei has it in front of his house. I am a bit confused

The 7 lampstand was Jewish lights but also recorded at Old testament, today i use it just a symbolic sign to remind Chrisitans to be the light of the world and the light need to connect to our Lord.
