Heart of Borneo - Afternoon Tea at Lanjak

As we proceeded away from the border and towards Putussibau we began to learn more official terms and Dayak words .

One was Chamat(District Officer) and the other was Kantor (office).

This is the Chamat Lanjak. From his headgear you will recognise immediately that he is of Dayak descent. He spoke Iban and he was gracious in welcoming the adventurers to his office and community hall. The late afternoon tea given was delicious. The special orange with sweet basil seeds was refreshing and thoughtful.

Like everyone else I also wanted to take a photo to commemorate my visit to Lanjak. It was nice to stand next to Datin Seri Irene too....

Hi!

Camat and kantor are not Dyak words. They are Bahasa Indonesia words. Kantor is probably borrowed from Dutch.
