Going to a Movie!!

Almost all Chinese I must say love their Chinese movies around the world. I do have a special habit of "attending a good show " as a way of celebrating Chinese New Year in my own way. A friend and I got together to watch Andy Lau's "Shaolin". Brilliant movie actually.

And what's nice was the way the Star Cineplex giving out 3 angpow packets. Nowadays a lot of people have the hobby of collecting angpow(red) packets. The show tickets were RM10.00

And this reminds me of the days when my grandmother took me to the movies in Lido or Rex Cinemas in Sibu...she paid $1.10 for her ticket and I "followed" her in....Kids did not get a ticket and most adults would bring in two kids if possible. The third one would just "slip" in!! In those days we just loved going to the cinema with our grandmother who enjoyed the movies as much as anyone their DVDs today.

Or some kids would buy 50 cents ticket and come out of the cinema with a headache as well as a neckache!

Those were the frugal days!

When I was a kid, my parents would only take my siblings and I to the cinema if their steamed buns sold well. We would caper with joy when Pa told us to get ready for going to a movie. Father would buy three pieces of tickets for our family of five. My brother and I would share a seat because we were very tiny.

Sorry, the following sentence should be like this:
when Pa told us to get ready for going to a movie = When Pa told us to get ready for a movie outing.
I hope I am right. Sometimes I don't even know how to construct simple sentences. Please point out my mistakes if there is any(hehe).

Ah Ngao...yes...50 cents was a big deal....15 cents was a bowl of mee in school. 5 cents was for a few strands of mee and some liquid with salt in it...I can feel tears at the corner of my eye thinking about 50 cents.

i remembered those days, we used to go for movies whenever there was a new James Bond movie because my dad was a big fan of Sean Connery and Roger Moore...

Dear Jasmine...that's nice of your dad to bring you. I never had a chance to go to movies with Dad. Although my dad would bring mum to a few movies when we were very young. We would go to movies with grandma. After I got married I realised that he had the right to have "quality time" with mum. He passed away when I was barely 15 and my youngest brother was 11 months old. 16 years of marriage for my mother and she has been grieving for the last 40 odd years. Going to movies always bring back a lot of memories....thanks for visiting.
