A love story for this day is about the 7th daughter of Emperor of Heaven and an orphaned cowherd. They were separated by the Emperor. The 7th daughter was forced to move to the star Vega and the cowherd moved to the star Altair. They are allowed to meet only once a year on the day of 7th day of 7th lunar month. Click here

This is a very touching real story from China......

Combing Hair for wife of 74 years

Translation "to day is the Chinese Valentine's Day. It is a day for Tang to commemorate their long lasting marriage of 74 years. Though their life together is "normal and simple" it is real love. In 1940, they were matched but they did have 3 months of "romancing each other" or getting to know each other period. He was 20 and she was 19. They have 3 daughters and a boy. Their first photo together was taken in a studio.

Three years ago Mrs. Tang was afflicted with extreme form of arthritis so every day Tang has to comb her hair, very very slowly to prevent any pain. Recently Tang suffers from severe cataract 白内障 . He speaks less now but Mrs. Tang continues to chat with him happily. Old Mr. Tang loves his pipe and he still needs his wife to prepare his pipe for him.

Red Bean Village is named after many red bean trees, and many young people who admire the long lasting love of the Tangs, come to register their marriages in the village.

What is the secret of their long lasting love?  "Care and companionship" 体贴和陪伴

when my wai po in her 80s chopped off her long hair. It was her freedom from slavery of combing it twice everyday. I wonder why Mrs Tang still kept her bun.
