My aunts went to Yuk Ing Girls School in Sibu, a school ran by the Methodist Mission. The school was managed by Mrs. Mary Hoover.
The girls who lived in the hostel came from the town and were children of the Methodist congregation. However several had come from other places like Binatang and Sarikei. There were about 60 girls according to my Aunt Chiew Sieng who was an Yuk Ing Girls student from Primary One to Primary Six and had the blessing of studying under Mrs. Hoover. She later went to the Methodist Secondary School when it was opened in 1949 and was the first of our family to graduate with Junior Three. She was in the first batch of Jr Three Graduates.
