I used to follow my father to his coffee shop, where he would have his early morning coffee with his friends. He would talk about the local politics and air his views about injustice and social ills. Then he would give me some coffee in the saucer , My legs would not reach the floor yet and so I would swing my legs in delight! A small slice of buttered and sugared bread would follow. That was my treat of the day. The following year I had to start primary one classes and I would no longer enjoy that.

One remarkable image stayed with me. That of a little trough for the coffee cups. I have not been able to get a photo to show you.

The coffee is tasty too, right?
Wyne, the coffee was superb. Just like the way I liked it in 197o's.
Coffee and coffee shops were a luxur to me. I never developed a taste of these coffee.
Ann, the culture of coffee shop or kopitiam is getting ever more significant in various shapes and forms today..especially with impetus from bigger players who want to market their branded coffees.
I still don't have interest, like having breakfast. That was why I was so pleased when we had breakfast at Miss Mamora's house.
Glad you enjoyed the breakfast at Miss Ida's house. Have you written to her? 10A Rawang Road (Brooke Drive 29), Sibu.
