The Methodist Primary School in the 1950's and 60's was divided into two sections, The Chinese Department and the English Department.

Mr. Wong Kie Mee was the Headmaster for many years, most probably until he retired. He was one of the few English teachers who went to study in Kuching, at St. Thomas' before the war and after the war, I was told. There was no school offering junior middle school education in English.

Mr. Wong Kie Mee's English is impeccable and he ran the school with an iron hand. For a few years, Miss Annette Constantine was the Supervisor of the school. She was a very elegant lady, very soft spoken and very gentle.

the Chinese department was totally separated from our English Deparment, although we shared the same Headmaster and Supervison.

Most of us are very grateful to Mr. Wong Kie Mee and his staff for teaching us good English for by the time we reached secondary school, we had perfect English.
