My cousin Tiong Nei Hung owns the Ing Kong Drug store, which is one of the biggest Chinese sin seh and medical stores in Miri. My cousin is not a trained sin seh but he is very knowlegeable about what herbs to use for certain ailments.
One of his favourite chores in the shop is to roll Foochow thread like noodles into a small ball to dry in the sun. He does this in his shop almost every day.
He gets his mee sua supply from Sarikei and many people like to buy from him.
A small ball of freshly made Foochow noodles, rolled up and ready to be sun dried. These balls can keep well in an air tight tin for even up to one year!!
Mee sua is a very important noodle for the Foochows. It is for celebration of a festival, a birthday, confinement, or for any occasion. It is also a meal by itself, when served with chicken soup
However many housewives would prefer to dry the noodles themselves.
