Black Glutinous Rice

 

She tribal people's wuren black glutinous rice baskets...these baskets are made from geng chow(salty water swamp weeds). 

I once lamented that we can no longer buy these leave woven cups to steam our glutinous rice to make them presentable like these to our guests.

These are mini baskets of black glutinous rice cooked by the Foochows of Ningde and the She Tribal group of Foochows. Actually the rice is not black like ours. they are white glutinous cooked with wuren leaves to make them black.

One day I will get some black glutinous rice from Lawas and cook them in paper cups...Stay tuned!!
