The best mashed taro is made from Betel Nut Taro or Bilong Wo.
However due to shortage of Betel Nut Taro in recent years, I have started to use local taro or Thai taro for this savoury dish.
A little bit of white pepper, somew chillies, pepper, deep fried onions, some slices of belly pork, ikan bilies and dried prawns would gurrantee you a beautiful snack.
We Foochows make both savoury and sweet snacks. This masked savoury taro can be transformed into a taro rice cake, to be seerved for breakfast, oren just aof a quick bite of lunch.
