Chakoi or Yiew Tiaw or Yew Char Kuey

the Chinese you tiau has become quite a Malaysian street food now. It is made for both the Halal and the non Halal market.

The Chinese eat their you char kuey in many different ways - cut into small pieces to be eaten with porridge, or just dunk a piece into hot coffee. Also known as You Tiaw is goes well with almost anything.

Chakoi made by the Malays are sold in the roadside stalls, coffee shops and in school canteens.

They are usually sold hot from the pan. Nowadays they are very popular. But the recipe is very different from the Chinese.
