Nibong shoots (upa) are very fine and delicate palm hearts. I love using them for my cooking. One is to prepare spring rolls , the way the Filipinos prepare them, called lumpia.

the other way to prepare nibong shoots to to cook them as an asam pedas soup.

As nibong shoots are rather rare in Miri, one cannot eat it very often.
