The old Chinese door properly pulled and locked. Note the slot for opening the lock in the middle. This is one panel specially made up of one removeable slat. French windows are similarly designed. I really admire the hinges which are really made to last a life time! Today so many hinges just drop off after a few years. And these wooden panels are really made to last! Excellent workmanship.

Sirikin has police walking around...but fairly discreetly. More at the front portion looking after may be the parking...
Parking costs 2 ringgit and you pay to the "boy" (forgot to take a photo of him)...just like in Jakarta.

Got the answer! My Bidayuh friend said that Sirikin is the name of the tributary that flows by the settlement. Sg. Sirikin is a small tributary which flows into Sg. Sarawak Kanan. You can see that on a good map!!
There is no meaning in modern days for the word. May be in the distant past there was a special meaning. The sound is nice.

Yes it is always good to find out the meaning of a Name or the origin of the name.
The Bidayuh have their own explanation of their names etc. but geographical names are just names of rivers and places.
the Malays have their specialty in naming their places (Sentul) after fruits or (Nibong Tebal) trees or the physical features (Alor Star or Bukit lereng)of the area.
