Butter and Jam but no Ham.

An episode in my life.

I was a poor graduate - just out of uni. And had a small teaching post in Chung Hua School.

Lunch for me was just sandwiches : butter and jam from home.

The young overseas graduate teacher (I am not sure if he was a certified teacher) came up to me and asked "What are you having?"

I said "Sandwich - butter and jam sandwich. Want some?"

"Nah.... I only like ham sandwiches..."

He never spoke to me again....and I did not want to have anything to do with such an arrogant person.....

At that moment somehow he reminded me of Marie Antoinette(French Queen) who thought that her starving people should just eat cakes...and the French Revolution changed the political outlook of the Europeans.

Let them eat cake LOL When you eat too much cake, you want something plain.

Sam likes his pasta and fried rice for lunch. Only once in a while he will take bread. He doesn't even like ham.

Today, after work, we made hamburger for him. A real big mansized burger patty.

HAHAHA... "smelly egg" translated into mandarin. He must be having some character issue here! Keep out of him and erase him from your mind. I am wondering whether he is still having the luxury of "I only like... ".

Real bad, if that was the teacher ppl nicknamed him as 'smelly egg" . He touched us in one way or another by his initiative to teach us extra in Maths! Cheers.. so far he is doing well in Spore & living in NZ just search his name and sure got his big name around!

Hi Ann
This was just one of those memorable episodes in my life...I remember the good and the bad...and the ugly. He sort of gave me all those"negative" vibes...
Of course nowadays I would be only too happy to make kids ham sandwiches...
Point was at that moment I thought a colleague would appreciate each other's food.
Some people would only have Kampua without meat....you know...

Anonymous...I am sure he was a good teacher in many ways...and probably he did not like me and was always too sarcastic...

It is not he doesnt like you, it must be that you are smarter than him in one way or another that made him felt jealous and envious! Dont you think so? I've met too many of those type of people around me! He pretended to say that the sandwich with Ham is far better so that he showed that he is different! Being a towkay son or not is nothing as his brothers were our friends but not as sarcastic as you mentioned. Cheers!

Hi Anonymous
Your views have made me feel better already...but at that moment it really hurt. Now it does not matter. I do wish him well. I am sure his brothers are good people.

Cheers.
