The urban development in modern China is unparallelled to any country : it is rapid and has created a new image in the world.
Many Chinese families are now living for example on the 37th floor of a high rise condominium.
Kutien people who have moved from the rural areas to the township of Gutian are now moving into high rise condos which they have bought. The government has also encouraged the mass migration from the rural areas to support the industrial development in major cities. Many rural people have become the urgently needed migrant labourers in the new industrial areas like Shenzen, Beijing,etc.
At the same time, many rural areas have also been developed rapidly. As the government also compensates the farmers for land use, it has helped to create a group of nouveau riche who have the financial abilility to invest in real estate and business ventures.
The government also subsidizes many of the construction projects and industrial development. Roads have greatly been improved, and railways have criss crossed the whole nation.
China has been hurled rapidly into the 21st century and is slowly becoming a new world power.
Our visit took us to this "Land of Fungi". Snow fugnus and shiitake mushrooms and many other fungi are exported from this city. Gutian is known as the World Capital of Fungi. The Fungi Museum is a must see tourist site.
