Hua Hing Kindergarten of Sungei Merah

This very old wooden building of Hua Hing Kindergarten in Sungei Merah will soon be demolished to make way for better buildings. Sited behind the central market in Sungei Merah it has educated many children. The teachers used to be Catholic nuns and ladies of the Catholic church.

The tall stilts which help raise the kindergarten above flood level was once considered an intelligent way to manage flooding in Sibu and Sungei Merah.

Now this kind of architecture is considered old style.
