Trevathan Farm Shop and Tea Room

October 2010 in Cornwall....It was a trip to remember and to see all our pastors and teachers who had served in Sarawak ....

Trevathan Farm and Tea Shopis is a fabulous experience. It is on a farm where you can pick your own vegetables and pay later!! But when we were there most of the vegetables were gone. Have to come another season!

The lady at the counter was introduced to us and we became like family! That is how life is here. She is so gentle and polite! And full of good cheer!

The Farm Shop and Tea Room is just a small part of the huge property developed in this area over the last few centuries. Its history is rich and intriguing. Very challenging  to most Malaysians indeed nowadays as we have to start thinking about how to study history which is going to be compulsory in our exams!! I am all for the proposal!!

In this shop you find all sorts of daily food products .  Bananas are almost RM10 per kg here. And limes are 60 p each or RM3 each!!

Seasonal vegetables (like lettuce) are fresh from the field and you pick your own or find them ready for you in the shop. It is really a very refreshing idea.( Tel 01208 880164)
Other local goodies like pickles, jams, honey, cheeses, fudge, free range eggs and clotted cream and country wines, Cornish beer  and even a special award winning hand-made Cornish Ice Cream are available..(this photo is from the shop's website)

I almost wanted to bring back a scare crow to chase away birds in Sarawak which drop their wastes on cars. (In Sarawak trees are cut down in the cities to chase away crows and other birds!!)

These scare crows are not scary. They are sweet and pretty and sold at the Shop. I wish I could bring one back to Sarawak.

This is an amazing natural wood formation which looks like the fallopian tube of a human feamle.

The open space outside the tea room is filled with outdoor furniture for tourists to enjoy both the food and scenery. You can see the vast moorland landscape and the clouds floating by.

The farm crops of strawberries and other fruits are now all gone as winter is just round the corner. This farm shop and tea room closes for the winter.

The last of the strawberries -sadly telling you that the season is over!!

I would like come back again one day - but in June to enjoy all the strawberries and scones and clotted cream!! Hope my dream would come true!

Hello Sarawakania, thats a beautiful store and place. I regret Cornwall one place I did not visit when In UK. Maybe someday.
Everyone tells me looks like NZ too....and parts of Canada.
You a good photographer....

To scare the crows? Tie a piece of long black paper, paint 2 big red eyes on it (both sides) and hang on the tree where the crows hang around...might work. It did for me, long ago.
Have a nice day, Lee.

Dear Uncle Lee
Been quite busy lately so gave up a little of blog hopping. Nice of you to visit!!
How have you been? Cornwall is beautiful. And to drop a big name..David Cameron loves the place too.
Thanks for the compliments and the tips....
Will try...
I was told also to get a troop of Iban soldiers to the town and soon they would shoot all the crows!!

thanks....I must remember I am still young and my legs are still good...and keep going!!

Perhaps my travelling bug was caught very early in life...one of those girls who could not keep still at home...and cycle for miles and miles...unfortunately roads in Sibu those days were very short!! I did 21 miles...the longest road then.
