The Key Man of Miri

I think many people would have experiences of getting themselves locked out or getting their lock systems at home jammed. And the person to fix it would be Mr. Chai. If you need a duplicate key...he is also the man.

His little and very intriguing shop "Nanyang" is located at Pelita in Miri. But actually his little service is called Fook Jook....

This huge key sign is his own design. "Key Service" is interesting by itself.

Another interesting design by him. That's a huge duplicate key.
Mr. Chai patiently "carving out" or "shaping" a new key.

This is the most expensive lock he sells. At about RM300 this is called the Two Key System...it is like a double signature checque. You need to persons with two different sets of keys to open the lock.

These are his traditional tools....He said he still has some others at home.

Mr. Chai is a very happy and patient man...

so if you need any "door" service...don't forget to call Mr. Chai. He is the least hurried man in Miri...and he can help you become less stressed.

I carry a spare car key in a separate purse.....as here if you get locked out of your car and its snowing, it is not funny, ha ha.
It snowed last night and today and temp a cool -7'c now.
A lot of people lock themselves out, very often with baby in the car too.

Always enjoy your postings as get to know the people, culture and businesses of where you are.

Dear Uncle Lee
Thanks for the visit...by the way I know of kids being locked in cars on Summer days and they die...So pitiful. I am sure the mothers or fathers would be frantic on snow days if their kids get locked in in Canada!!

You keep warm and keep your keys well and safe....God bless.

He is not the only locksmith in Miri. His wife sells other stuff behind his outlet. He is fairly busy as one of the best key man in Miri. Cheers.

He claims that his locks are good. But I am sure there are robbers out there who might even want to rob Sing Sing or Dartmoor prisons!! These are people who might try anything!!
