Hui People's Food

The Hui people of Yunnan are Muslims and they are a small ethnic group. They enjoy preparing food especially flat breads similar to those prepared in the Middle East.

They also eat a lot of fish, mainly grilled over charcoal fires.

This style of cooking is very nice because it brings out the best in fish. Furthermore the aroma is awesome.

The Hui people prefer food made from flour. They do not eat much rice. Flat breads go well with their meat stews which are permitted by Koranic principles.

While in Yunan I enjoyed eating a lot of the bread prepared by them which went well with spicy meat stews. Lovely and very similar to our Malaysian style of cooking.
