Fancy living on the hills of Yunnan?

Years ago many Chinese would consider Yunnan a rather provincial place.

But after the 1949 revolution and especially after the opening up of China in the 1980's outlooks became very different. Even the Overseas Chinese look at Yunnan different today.

Yunnan is now the "Garden of Eden" to many and younger and enterprising young Chinese have found new lives in many of the newly developed suburbs of cities like Kunming!!

But amazingly the mountains continue to beckon to those who wish for a quiet life..those who wish to spend their simple lives away from the busy city lifestyle.

Here are some photos for you....

Old homes belonging to the ethnic Miao who have farmed here for centuries on the hills.
The closeness of the houses show that they are a closely knitted community.
New three storeyed mansion coming up...surrounded by a garden of healthy corn.
The village overlooks pretty mountains. One of the mountains is Eagle Mountains which is famous for jungle trekking.
A serene view of the environmentally friendly farming style.Rivers and streams are life giving and they are highly respected. No pollution is allowed.

p/s For those who know of the movie "Five Golden Flowers" you will like to visit Yunnan just to check out the beautiful background.
