Goodbye to the Hawkers of Satok Market

The Satok Market is a lovely enclave of small traders who have lots to sell, in a very localized kind of culture. There is no market like the Satok Market in Sarawak!! The size is the matter. A day out visiting the market is a tour in itself. It is a mini holiday for many housewives.

It is a place where decisions can be made about what to buy and what not to buy.

There are so many choices too. Even pineapples can be looked at. While they get heated up in the sun and turned yellower, the hawker looks at you with hopeful eyes. What about getting three for ten ringgit? That's a good bargain.

You might ask if you could have two small ones and two big ones for 10 ringgit. You might just get your wish.

And you might even look at a strong man chopping through large trunks of palms...what a nice activity!!

I like to look at tapioca leaves....which will make a good dish. They are good for colon cleansing. Believe you me.

You will go home and wish you had bought more. But don't be tempted because more  purchases would mean more wastage. Most of the vegetables are very perishable.

The hawkers of Satok Market know a lot about consumer psychology.
