Pumpkin Flowers Miri and Beyond

It is hard to differentiate between male and female pumpkin flowers.
But usually the flowers are cooked with the leaves when there are not many flowers. Eventually the whole pumpkin vine will die.

But strangely in Limbang most of the farmers can produce up to 40 or 60 fruits per patch of pumpkin. They seem to be so lucky and they have so much that they give pumpkins to their pigs and chickens to eat!!

Some people plant pumpkins on racks built about 5 feet tall in the garden. May be that is the better way of growing pumpkins.




In Miri it is not easy to get pumpkin flowers pollinated.






Fresh pumpkin flowers are battered and deep fried. They are very crunchy and tasty. Best Vegan Vegetable!!
