Putih was a horse brought over from Lawas by a Lun Bawang teacher, Balang Lasung, and another teacher.
Mr. Phang Chung Shin the Principal of the School heard that Putih was abused by the locals in the Lawas School. Putih was left behind by two Peace Corps volunteer teachers.
It was quite a bit of money but after a staff meeting, the Principal asked Balang to go ahead to Lawas and bring back the horse by the local motor launch.
It was an act of love.
When Putih arrived in the school, he was very thin and every one loved him. Soon he was able to gain his weight back. He was given a good stable, made by the school gardeners together with the students.
He brought magic to our school.
Petting him because very therapeutic and students spent time with him to show their love.
Putih was an amazing School Pet. But then we did not realize that we were the only school with a HORSE as a PET.
