Overseas Returnees in Putien
We were invited by a special group of Hin Hua ladies in Putien for a lovely dinner. It was a rainy evening but the place was warm and merry with very chatty ladies.
Madam Wong/Huang in the photo is actually related to some Hin Huas in Sibu directly. The First Generation Hin Hua came in 1912, and her great grandfather in law was Huang Teck Kie was among them. Huang's sons, Kah Ming and Kah Fong were born in China, and Teck Kie's grand children were born in Sibu. However the Huang's third generation (those Sibu born) returned to China for further studies. Madam Huang is married to 4th generation of the family, Huang Shi.
Our group led by Wong Meng Lei were also considered "overseas returnees".
(Note : She came to Sibu for the Hin Hua Settlement Anniversary in November 2012)
