Ted Westley who lived in Sibu 1963-65

No photo description available.

Ted Westley now lives in Perth with the love of his life, Menai (from Sg. Aup) whom he married in 1965. He was one of the aeronautical technician with the British forces stationed at the Sibu Old Airport.

According to a recent conversation with friends in Perth, he remembered very clearly how he enjoyed cycling with friends in Sungei Merah and having a cup of coffee in the coffee shops. He enjoyed the roti bakar.

Another thing he remembered well was having the half boiled eggs at the Old Airport. He was very friendly with Lau Ah Mee the proprietor of the Airport Canteen. And it did not surprise him at all that the beautiful Iban lady tht he fell in love with was a distant cousin of Ah Mee's wife.

After their marriage, Ted, who had come from a long history of  family members who served in the British Army, took his bride to Hong Kong where they stayed for a few years.

They later moved to Australia and settled down there where their daughter started primary school.

He would have a lot of stories to tell about the army manouevres etc. But he really kept MUM. In his spare time, he reads all the books he can lay his hands on about Malaysia and especially about Sarawak. His pet dogs keep him company.
