Pickled Buah Embawang (Bambangan)

No photo description available.

the buah embawang is a very large fruit which tastes like mangoes but has more fibrous texture.

When we were young my family used to eat the fresh fruits with rice and salted fish. It was really a very tasty side dish. Perhaps that was our first fruit salad in our lives!!

Today when buah embawang is in season, many housewives would make pickles out of the fruit.

It is very nice with rice, and especially with nasi lemak.
