Sibu's young people were twisting to the fantastic music of Chubby Checker. Young men would be wearing their tight trousers and having a good time making some nice moves even along the five foot way. They would not wait for Saturday to arrive when they could go on the dance floor at Sibu Recreation Club or some rich men's private homes.
Indeed those are the memories I have of the days when I was in secondary school, when I dreamed of dancing with nice young men.
But later due to the seriousness of the call of the academics I chose the straighter and stricter road and went for further studies and forgot about dancing and having a good time.
But Chubby Checker and his music still has a corner in my heart.
