Old Girl Guides and Boys Scouts had to pass a test - Bicycle test - name the parts and mend a puncture.
It was quite interesting how Mrs. Temple could teach us how to mend a puncture. In the Girl Guide Hut, the girls would be busy with inner tubings which Mrs. Temple would collect from the tyre shops in Sibu. We then cut a hole in the tyre and applied the glue and patch the tubing.
We felt quite accomplished. But in life we actually never had a chance to mend a punctured bicycle tyre!!
However, you have to believe me, all these little accomplishment under the guidance of Mrs. Temple made us Girl Guides more confident and cheerful.
Thank you Mrs. Lora Temple.
