Sweet Young Corn
Corn silk makes a lovely tea to help clean the kidneys. Corn silk is used for bladder infections, inflammation of the urinary system, inflammation of the prostate, kidney stones, and bedwetting. It is also used to treat congestive heart failure, diabetes, high blood pressure, fatigue, and high cholesterol levels.
I never knew that there is a variety called young sweet corn because growing up in the Chinese community we did not grow the young sweet corn variety. I told the farmer growing the young sweet corn variety to wait until they are bigger and harvest them. But he just smiled and said that what he was growing was the "vegetable type|" or sayur.
It was a hilarious incident.
Young sweet corn and cangkok manis make a good dish for Sarawakians. I love this dish and I often cook it for my family.
