Sarawakian Local Delights : Jelutong

In the olden days when the Foochows first came to Sarawak, they were introduced to the jelutong and many of them attempted to collect the " rubber" or resin. The rubbery matter was therefore called Lotong by them. In later days when rubber bands became common use for tying things, they were called lotong die, ie rubber bands.
