Collection of Honey and Chawat : a story
The tapang tree is a very tall tree which is very precious to the Ibans. Tapang trees are homes of a very important honey bee.
Here is a very humourous story about a group of young men who chanced upon a tapang tree full of honey bee hives.
A fire was started at the bottom of the tree to chase away the bees. And soon it was time to climb up to harvest the honey. But they had to devise a way to lower the honey combs to the ground level.
They had no ropes with them.
So they decided to take off their chawats, string them together and use them to help lower the hives...Necessity is the mother of invention.
