The Coliseum Cafe , KL

The old Colosium Cafe in Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman is a very special cafe for me. That was I had my best steak ever in 1971 with college mates. And we were served by waiters who wore white.

The white table cloth was starched stiff.

While there were many diners at lunch time, it was all very quiet.

My friends were all eager to have a taste of colonial food. But it also served Hainanese Chicken.

The waiter was very informative, seeing that we were like from out of town, with that look of someone who had probably come out of the bush.

But we did enjoy the lunch and we felt good we could spend a bit of our allowances from our scholarship money.

This cafe was originally for the Colonials who wanted a taste of their own western food and cold beer. Upstairs was a small hotel for government officers who came to KL for a night or two of city life.

there were original hooks or coat hangers and the walls were filled with old black and white photos.

This is one cafe that would draw me whenever I am in KL.
