The Chinese Blue Textile and Saban Migration

Legend of Saban migration in Sarawak :

According to the elders of the Saban people in Long Banga, the previous generation of the Sabans in the 1900 decided to move to LAPAN or the Bario highland area so that they could easily purchase the blue cotton cloth available in Marudi.

The photo shows a Chinese man wearing the blue cotton boxer.

The Sabans then were too tired of making their own cloth from the tree bark. They on the other hand could sell their precious tobacco to the Chinese in Marudi.

It took them ONE MONTH to paddle from the source of the Baram to Marudi.
