Tanjong Kunyit before 1950

Jeng Ang Church was built in 1918. Originally when Tanjong Kunyit was settled by the Foochows there was no church. The Foochow pioneers rowed their small boats across the wide Rajang River to worship in Bukit Lan's Yung Nang Church.

The first pastor was Pastor Wong Kee Siong.

In 1919 a branch of Kwang Hua School was founded here with Wong Xiang Leong as head teacher.

By 1930's there were more than 200 worshippers in this church. In 1938, a church with a concrete foundation was built to serve the people here.

When Rev Ho Siew Leong came to pastor in this church in 1948, he saw a faithful group of strong Methodists, following God's will and spreading his Gospel.
