Sarawak : Simpor
the Simpor is a lovely yellow flower and the plant can be found all over Sarawak and in fact the Borneo Island.
It is the national flower of Brunei, our neighbouring country.
simpor leaves are very useful as they can be used to wrap pork for example.
the leaves are often used to line kitchen tables, hawkers' tables and even the forest floor when people want to sit down to have a meal , or to cook some game they have hunted.
The leaves are often used to wrap rice so that they don't go stale in the heat of the sun. Tapai is often made and then wrapped in the leaves for sale.
Simpor leaves are also useful when a patient needs to be smoked on a platform and traditional rituals are to be performed over him or her.
