Mud Banks
Beautiful ,soft, brown mud,
Along the Rajang River,
Around bends and curves,
New extensions of land mass.
Snails, fish, mudskippers, prawns,free
For you and me,
An occasional snake and croc may be
A pedada here and over there -api api.
Bees and butterflies flitting in the sunlight,
Fireflies display in the moon light.
In the morn fishers catch their need
And birds arrive at dusk to feed.
God creates, man disposes
The river erodes, the river deposits,
Man and animals contiunue to live,
In simplicity,harmony and great relief.
Coexistence at its best.
God's creations manifest
Life is full, we are blest.
God is nigh and we can rest.
(Chang Yi, May 2019)
Note : Mud banks along the Rajang are depositional features formed by the river which has eroded the hilly regions.
They are the natural habitats of snails, fish, mudskippers, prawns and fish, snakes and many other life forms. They too form the new places where seeds are deposited and grow.
They are like the new world and new migrants develop and create their own natural history.
At bends of rivers, at curves of rivers mud is continually deposited. When plants grow from them, the land newly form become more solid. Birds fly above looking for food at dusk.
This is how the universe reinvent itself day in and day out.
It is always good to see mud banks without plastic and waste matter stuck to them, forming such an eye sore.
