Sibu Tales : Childhood Memories
How memories can be generated by a mere photo.
Apart from Ta Fong Aerated Company in Sibu, there was another one called Chuong Liu (Kutien owned). The logo is a Horse head. No. 19 High Street. Owner was Ting Ing Kwong and at that time telephone no of 3 digits 277. However we never saw any aerated drinks coming out of the shop.
The Longhouse Photo Equipment had the same address. Owned by the late Mr. Lim Poh Chiang.Christina PY Sio
My friend's father was Ting Ing Ling, the brother of Ting Ing Kwong, a very nice man who played good mahjong with my father. Most people in those days affectionately called him Ling Yian. They also had a more famous brother, the late YB Ting Ing Mieng whom many called Ah Mieng warmly.
My friend's family lived upstairs for a long time.
We used to stand at the corner waiting for my mother to complete her marketing. (She used to tell us not to crowd the market..just wait for her at the corner, stand still and later carry the full basket home later...No handphone of course in those days. We had to use our eyes and waited for Mother to appear.)
