麻笋干炒肉 Ma rung ngang ca nyuk

The Foochow elders liked to threaten their youngsters by some kind of codes.

"Wait till your father comes home" and "ma rung ngang ca niik" waits for you.Image may contain: one or more people and shoes

ma sung gang ca nük or 麻笋干炒肉」is a special Foochow dish which is dried bamboo shoots stir-fried with meat,

It is actuallyh a Foochow childhood 'delicacy' that many of us love to hate, because it was usually painful to swallow, although now often recalled with fond memories.

A father would beat the naughty child up until there were streaks on the legs. These streaks on the legs look like bamboo shoots.

This is the Ma Rung (from Google)

That was one threat I was most afraid of when I was a child.

Most parents used the stalks of cangkok manis to hit their naughty children. We all have bad memories related to cangkok manis stalks.
