Pliae - Useful Tree


Some pliae trees are left standing by developers in Sarawak. They are tall and slim in the distance.

Some pliae trees are purposely grown to help make the local landscpe pretty. This tree is found in the Marina Park City, in Miri


The tell tale sign that this tree is a pliae. There are two small trunks branching out from the main trunk. And then a small shoot will shoot upwards to the sky.


The pliae wood is good for wood carving especially for carving of hornbills. It is one of the best


wood for making of sape

Today it is more and more difficult to find pliae trees because of rapid logging and deforestation.
