Fat wallets vs thin wallets

No photo description available.

A lot of women would look at men's wallets in the past to see if they had lots of notes.

I have two stories to share here:

Once a woman took a new Rajah 10 dollar note to give to her nephew from her abusive husband's  thick wallet. She thought that he would not notice a missing 10 dollar note. But he did. When he found out, he beat her up in front of the whole family, including his own parents. He had always belittled the wife because she came from a poor family,

She was so ashamed that she committed suicide.

Another story involved a poor widow. She was very traumatised when the police came and gave her the last effects from her husband - an empty wallet, a soiled ID card, a torn hat from the industrial accident.

She also found out that there was no insurance coverage for her poor husband. She needed to raise the children herself and her in laws were not at all happy with her and their own loss. they blamed her for bringing bad luck to them because she was born in the year of the Tiger.

However she worked very hard and managed to tap enough rubber to buy a small rubber garden when the price of land and rubber was very low. She had a stroke of luck when she was offered a job in a sawmill. With her little salary and savings, she got by. But she told her relatives that she was always very worried when her wallet had very little cash. She brought her children up to value money and to work hard. They all worked hard on their land, planting vegetables and rearing animals.

She passed away not long ago, leaving behind a handsome deposit in the bank, and a valuable piece of property, as a road has been built just along her little rubber garden and had jacked up the price of the land.

One must never look down upon people who are struggling because they have very little money.
