Baram Tales : Sacred Heart Chapel, Lubok Nibong
When the first Foochows settled in Poyut in 1927 many of them were Roman Catholics. They at first worshipped in Marudi. they would take a slow boat on Sunday to go to church. But later Father Johnson started to build a small wooden chapel called Sacred Heart Chapel . In the 1960's a new concrete chapel was built. But now with good roads and good river transport, and many of the Foochows having moved out, the chapel is abandoned.
