Three years ago I was the happy representative of the Miri District Methodist Church on this education tour of Zhangjiakou. The trip was partially "sponsored" although most of us paid our own passage etc. We were all members of the History and Archive sub committee of the SCAC or Sarawak Chinese Association of Churches.
The leaders were historians Wong meng Lei and Dr, Wong King Sing.
There were 14 others in the team. It was a fact finding and research tour and we full filled most of the objectives. The only hiccup was the mechanical problems of our chartered coach and bad weather for one or two days.
