張煙都又名張和尚，中國福建省，海澄縣，古樓村人．1867年出生．
Teo Yien Too aka Teo Ho Siong, was born in Fujian, Haiden Province in 1967.
中國南部沿海地區的福建，接觸外面的世界機會多．在社會不穩定局勢下，居民可以輕意的流到海外．
17歲那年，他離開家鄉，來到砂拉越的馬林鎮．据稱，詩巫是馬林鎮的延續．
When he was 17 years old he decided to leave his village to seek his fortune in Maling, Sarawak.
他在這里，與同鄉張良弼合夥開創了「長發」號，專營土著生意．後來，他在海唇街自創了「長盛發」公司．
After his arrival, he started a business called Tiong Huat with his friend Teo Liong Kuk, dealing with native trade. Later he also started his own private firm called Tiong Seng Huat.
早年移民史，都是辛酸血淚史．處身在異地，面對生活上各方面的困難，都是族人相互幫忙中渡過．張煙都更對那些不幸死亡的人，做出了許多的協助，捐贈棺木處理家境貧困者身後事．
As he continued to prosper he began to do a lot of charitable work like donating coffins to help the poor to bury their dead.
由于熱心公益，受到拉者政府官員賞識，遂於1906年推荐他為詩巫的首任僑長，負責處理詩巫華人的婚姻註冊，家庭糾紛等事宜．
He was made the Chinese Headman/ Kapitan in 1906, helped with Chinese marriage registration and also helped to do a lot of community work right up to 1927.
一直到1927年，張煙都才卸下他的這份任務．
在1916年，他曾發起籌辦本地第一間華僑公立學校「明德國民學堂」，後來被推舉為首任董事長．
他亦於1931年協助籌組「詩鵝坡商務總會」，並推舉為董事．
In 1916 he founded Ming Teck Nationalo School. He was later made the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the school.
In 1931 He also founded See Ngo Commercial society and became one of the directors.
張煙都與夫人溫木耳，育有三男二女．長男崑燦，次男崑山，三男崑海．長女金花，次女金英．
He and his wife Oon Muk Er had three sons and two daughters.
這位詩巫第一任“僑長”，於1950年83歲之齡，在其商號內逝世，並被安葬在詩巫木杰立麻漳泉公會墓園．
雖然沒沒無聞，他在砂拉越詩巫華族移民史上，也佔了一席之地．做為後人的，我們應該對於這位先賢，至少有一點點的了解．
He passed away at the age of 83 in 1950. He contributed much to the history of the Chinese in Sarawak.
